Soul’s Physical Health Journey Part 7 of 13: Dairy – scary!

Are you aware of what the federal, state and local laws mandate concerning U.S. diary cows?  Did you want to know?  I thought I did until I started googling around on this issue.  Our Center For Disease Control has more than a dozen frightening (to me at least) reports on what farmers MUST inject into diary cows in order to stay in compliance with a host of laws. While I appreciate the essence of such rules and regulations (to maintain a safe, healthy source of diary), the actual outcome is far from honoring our health and wellness.

20090518pmInoculations aside, we further complicate our diary intake by infusing all kinds of (what is claimed to be beneficial) additives to dairy products.  A common addition to most dairy products a wide range of liquid dyes to ensure that product just looks right!  Next, don’t forget to read your ingredient list on any dairy product to discover what (again, claimed to be beneficial) supplements are added to the mix.  While it’s nice to think manufacturers are watching out for your health by adding some supplements, is the grade of supplements used something our bodies can use or do our bodies treat these supplements as toxins.

Overall, when it comes to retiring unhealthy weight, the less toxins one consumes, the better the chances are you’ll drop those unhealthy pounds much more effortlessly.  (I know my excess weight dropped more quickly when I stopped buying off-the-shelf dairy products.) Given all the (what is claimed to be) beneficial aspects of ‘drinking a glass a day’ one MUST wonder, is it REALLY wise to drink all that fortified milk?  Based on our exponentially expanding obese children, do we need to question that catchy add slogan. “Milk! Does it do a body good.”
